How to Address the Board at an Open Public Meeting
If you wish to address the Board at a board meeting you must sign in and list the topic you wish to address.
The Board of Trustees being interested in receiving input from the public consistent with the efficient processing of business of the Board will allow and/or restrict public comment at Board meetings as follows:
-
Speakers may offer objective criticism of school operations and programs, but the Board will not hear complaints about school personnel or other persons at a public session. Other channels provide for Board consideration of complaints involving individuals.
-
Public comment will be allowed on most new issues addressed by the Board. Persons will be allowed to speak one time per agenda item.
-
Each member of the public wishing to address the Board subject to these rules will be allowed up to three (3) minutes of time to make their presentation. Persons will be allowed to speak one time per agenda item. Additional time, up to two (2) minutes may be granted by the board after all of the speakers have been allowed to speak.
Questions from the public
If an immediate response to a question raised by a member of the public is possible, the chairman may reply or ask the Superintendent to do so. Otherwise, questions will be referred to the Superintendent and/or the appropriate Board committee for investigation and later response.
School Board members will be attending the FFA Banquet, Sports Award Assemblies, Graduation Ceremonies, Field Days, Building B-B-Q, and other social events held for the students or staff of the Gooding Joint District #231.
In addition to the above referenced Regular Board Meetings, Special Meetings of the Board may be called and held at any time as long as they are properly noticed not less than 24 hours before the meeting is convened - . Idaho Code 33-510
