Gooding PTA Newletter

We want to thank everyone who helped make the Gooding PTA a success for the 2009-2010 School year.  Through a combined effort, we were able to achieve many great things this school year.  We appreciate your involvement in our activities as we help to build the best educational environment possible here at Gooding Elementary and Middle School.

We are very fortunate to have such an outstanding group of teachers and staff who care about our children as well as a strong and active parent community.

We have accomplished many great things as a PTA.  Before the school year began we were able to paint the black top with new games, and we were able to repaint the basketball and tetherballs courts.  Along with this, we were able to support the school giving them important playground resources to help kid’s behavior at recess.  This year we continued our Star Store, which awards students for their reading achievements.  We also continued our monthly awards program for the Elementary and Middle School.  Children were awarded monthly and their pictures mounted on the wall.  They were then given pins at an awards assembly.  The following awards were given for Gooding Elementary Students: Shining Star, Super Trooper, Marvelous Manners, School Spirit.  For Middle School Students the following awards were given: Honor Roll, Perfect Attendance, Humanitarian, School Spirit

We were also able to support the entire elementary taking various field trips

Kindergarten:  A celebration at the West Park

First Grade:     Visited the Faulkner Planetarium

Second Grade:  Went Bowling at the Ranch Bowl

Third Grade:  Visited the Faulkner Planetarium

Fourth Grade: Took a trip to Boise to visit the State Capital, museum, and Discovery Center

Fifth Grade:  Took a trip to the Bruneau Sand Dunes.

For the Middle School, we gave funds for a year end dance, the 6th grade literature class was able to take a field trip to the Times News in Twin Falls, and money was allocated for Field Trips for 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.

We were able to have a Family Fun Bingo Night, supported the Book Fair, and continued our Campbell’s soup label and box top collections to support the school.

The benefits of family-school-community partnerships are many: higher teacher morale, more parent involvement and greater student success are only a few.

We ask all parents, Grandparents, extended families, and patrons of Gooding to please join us in our effort to make Gooding Elementary and Middle School the best educational environment possible.

Helen Keller summed it up so well in the following quote

I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do something that I can do.

-Helen Keller

People tell us they don’t have time, they are too busy.  We are all busy.  We have jobs, families, activities, and various things going on in our lives.  Everyone can be a part of the PTA.  You do not have to attend every monthly meeting.  Please join today for the 2010-2011 School year.  With a combined effort we can make this the best year ever.  Please join us in supporting your children and the children of Gooding.  The membership form can be found on the PTA website, or by contacting a board member.

Together we have the Power To Achieve great things every day!

Gooding PTA is a group of people who work together to achieve a common goal, a quality educational experience for all of our children. Being involved in PTA gives every parent the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of their kids. We are a better place because of the commitment our parents, teachers, and community show every day.

There is a volunteer opportunity for everyone, whether you work full-time, part time or at home all the time.  Please feel free to contact any of the board members if you would like to volunteer or if you have any ideas or suggestions.
