Gooding Schools Receive Generous Donation from Coeur d'Alene Tribe
Gooding School District is pleased to announce the receipt of a generous donation from the Coeur d'Alene Tribe. In a statement from the tribe Chief Allan, Chairman, said, “The Coeur d’ Alene Tribe is proud to support Gooding School District in their efforts of renovating their facilities. We recognize that education holds the key to our future success as a state, a region, and a nation. We have always believed in the power of education; it is a part of our culture, so much so that we have returned 5% of our net gaming revenues every year to the financial support of education. Idaho’s students are central to the continued success of our state, and we applaud the efforts of the Gooding Schools.”
Gooding School District received $20,000 to be used for facility repairs and replacement of kitchen equipment. "This donation is truly an unexpected gift that will help us further our current facility renovations throughout the district. We are very thankful for this contribution from the Coeur d’Alene Tribe and are honored they chose to donate to our district," said Dr. Heather Williams, Gooding School District Superintendent.
Representative Wendy Jaquet, D-25, Representative Donna Pence, D-25, and Senator Michelle Stennett, D-25, were instrumental in communicating to Tribal leaders the need for funding for the Gooding School District. Representative Jaquet helped to provide background on the district, its programs, and facilitate discussions between the school district and the Tribe.
In response to the donation, Representative Jaquet thanked the Tribe for its generous donation and said, “Gooding School District’s focus on improving health and wellness for the students and staff is to be commended. The district has worked very hard to secure funding and improve their facilities to provide safe and energy efficient systems and the Coeur d’Alene Tribe’s donation could not have come at a better time to help the district complete some of their projects.” Tribal leaders plan to travel to Gooding later this spring for a formal presentation of the gift.
